Okay, to start off I would like to state that I know that both of these cars are still pretty slow, but it was a good race for me.
Me: 97 Maxima (No nitrous used) 5-spd manual Injen air filter + gutted out exhaust (bought it like that) Practically stock!
Him: 00 Civic SI (Belongs to my cuz) -Basic suspension works -AEM V2 cold air intake, fuel rail, and FPR set above stock. -DC headers -SKUNK2 Intake Manifold -SKUNK2 ECU -SKUNK2 Full Exhaust -MSD, Nology wires, plugs, and a ground kit
Raced from a 15 mph roll.
We both slowed down to about 15 mph. I revved it up and slipped it into first while he does the same and grinds a little.... I step on the clutch and rev it up to 3500 rpms and yell out the countdown (my horn is broken) 3! 2! 1! GO! He gets off first and grabs about half a fender while i spin my tires and hope for traction! Finally i get some asphalt but i'm at 36 mph and it's already time for 2nd gear! I Spun 2nd gear and I suffer from tire spin again! He grabs 2nd gear perfectly and is now up by half a car! Dam... I need to catch up in third! 62 mph! I grab third perfectly and the tires give me a small chirp while the SI shifts into third and gives a small chirp as well! I'm starting to catch up! In THIRD GEAR! What happened to that THIRD GEAR VTEC? By the time I hit 75 we are neck and neck and I hear him try double clutching (obviously doesn't work) but to no avail. 90 mph hits! My Fourth gear hits perfectly! i look to my left and see him a half car behind! Slowly falling away! I kept on the gas until 115 mph and look in the rear view mirror. There he is, a good couple cars behind now and still falling. I finally let off and we both slow down.
We give each other the up and i head off to work.
Seriously, I thought I was going to get killed with all the mod's that he has on his SI. IF i had better traction in 1st and 2nd he might have not been able to get ahead of me like that. Unbelievable many SI fans may think? Believe it.
