All the questions you have about supras and supra

First off the MKIV with around 90,000 miles is going to run you about 19,000-21,000 depending on if its a 6speed or auto and what kind of condition its in. That is all before you register it and insure it. People say that they are only blue booked at around 12-15k and complain about the cost.....good for you, don't get one. If you want one of these cars you are going to have to pay and probably pay a pretty high price. I laugh when I see people adding them to their lists of possible cars next to a Prelude or something because they are such different vehicles. If you are even considering a Honda or some other car like that, don't bother with the Supra.....the costs will eat you alive....with gas and insurance and speeding tickets because yes you will get them its just a matter of time....and then even higher insurance.......

Insurance on these is a bitch. I'd definitely recommend registering it through your parents otherwise you will get raped hardcore by insurance companies.

As far as the best mods for them....a lot of people first go BPU(which is where I am right now). BPU is Basic Performance Upgrades.....it consists of a boost controller, boost gauge, turbo timer, downpipe, exhaust, and a boost cut controller. Granted my stuff is not your basic BPU....I got all the flashy name brand products but you can BPU your supra for around 500 bucks if you go ghetto style.........Right now I'm sitting at about BPU++ I have all those upgrades and a Apex-i FMIC and I'm mounting an HKS SSQ BOV onto the IC pipe. As far as ghetto mods for supras....that is definitely looked down upon and you won't be respected within the Supra community. If you are a supra owner for christ sake you should be able to afford good products for it and not ghetto crap like for a civic.

The BEST exhaust is probably the HKS Ti but that is rather expensive and overkill if you are still on stock twins. You don't need that size of exhaust until you are running a single turbo. I've got the Blitz Nur-Spec which is an awesome exhaust but another good one is the HKS Hiper.....I'd stay away from Greddy for exhausts cause they tend to be on the sucky side icon_wink.gif

The BOV that most of the supra community uses is probably the HKS SSQ, it sounds mean as hell.........

I guess there really are no "best" mods because everyone's preference is different but generally stick to name brand.

There is no engine swap for Supras since you already have the msot badass import motor available.....the only thing you can do is upgrade your turbos to either a single or big twins. The stock twins however are very capable of running into the 10s, you just won't make the high hp that is accustomed to being seen from Supras. Big singles definitely cost money and then you have to worry about your fuel system, tranny/clutch, and just street driveability. My friend has a Supra with a PHR Stage 2++ turbo and can make into the 900 range at the wheels but as a daily driver the car kinda sucks. He can drop it into 5th going 90 and he'll spin the tires......it goes 60-120 in 3 seconds.....that my friends is not a good daily driver. I'm currently looking at the SP Budget kit which runs 2500 + 800 for their labor costs and you just need a fuel controller but no upgraded fuel system. It is good for around 550-600 rwhp with some tuning and has a very quick spool time. Greddy T78 is another good turbo.....produces almost power as the T88 but spools about 300-400 rpm quicker.....the T88h has somewhat of a better spool time than the T88 but still not as quick as the T78.....all these turbos are good for in the high 800s-900s at the wheels with no nitrous. Peter Blach has the T88 or T88h and he put down 955 hp to the wheels and on dyno day with a heat soaked engine he still put down 938rwhp......definitely high powered icon_cool.gif

As far as racing goes Supras are not meant for drag racing....they are meant for road coarses so they have IRS which is just horrid for dragging. Auto tranny is definitely better for dragging. Auto BPU on street tires and pump gas with a 3200 TC can run in the low 11s....I'm talking 11.2-11.4 range....thats damn good for the amount of mods done. 6speeds tend to be harder to launch and for the most part run in the mid 12s at BPU level....however there are a few cases of really well driven 6speeds hitting 11s as well but for the most part they don't get that low.

People call Supras dyno queens and what not and say they are overrated but really its jealousy because most people are too poor to afford one. If you can afford one then more power to ya and welcome to the club! These are awesome cars and monsters on the streets........I'm sure people like TTPower and viperlocc have things to add to this post because I know I haven't even scratched the surface of Supras and their ability.........
