I am looking to buy a CRX.... i also know that if i buy one, i will definitely do an engine swap. I currently have a MINI cooper S, and am considering selling it because i've had my fun in it and i can sell it now for more than i paid for it. i could use the cash difference to build a CRX with similar capabilities as the cooper, albeit not as nice, but still have cash left over to pay all my bills, even after doing a swap.
here's my question: i see your kit costs around $2200 for the CRX, and i guess that includes motor, tranny, and all necessary parts (ECU, etc). is that a new motor and tranny, rebuilt, or salvaged?
and here's a more advice question: how much on average does it cost to have this swap performed? can a local honda shop do it or are there recommended places in certain areas? can you recommend someone in san antonio?
When looking for a used CRX, what are some critical things to look for? whats important and whats not (if i intend on doing a swap)?
I have the exact same questions, but for a 1992 civic.
I was going to pick one up as a beater, make it a project car by dropping a b16a in it... i see they are 2700 for the kit i will need, how much will that install usually run? how long will it usually take? (assuming its a competent mechanic)?
what are some things to look for in a "donor" car?
On both swaps that price Includes either Install or shipping. They are complete swap prices. However the CRX price is for the SI model only ( DX add $150, HF add $150, & DX 4speed add $300) All motors/ transmissions are direct JDM imports & come with an average of 30-40k miles. On the 92-95 Honda Civic we also have a Swap sale right now through March 31st. The Sale Price on a complete B16A swap for a 92-95 Civic is $2,500 installed or Shipped. Let us know if you have anymore questions.
